LUCY MAUNDER

Lucy Maunder is widely regarded as one of Australia’s most accomplished and sought after leading ladies, with a career spanning nearly two decades across the nation’s main stages. Since graduating from WAAPA in 2006, she has brought to life an extraordinary range of roles across the most celebrated productions in Australian theatre.

Lucy is currently playing the role of Jellylorum in the Australian tour of CATS  (Crossroads Live). In 2024, she toured nationally to critical acclaim as the iconic Roxie Hart in the Australian smash-hit production of Chicago (Crossroads Live), and starred opposite Keegan Joyce in the Australian premiere of No Love Songs (Newtheatricals), the first musical staged at the Sydney Lyric’s new Foundry Theatre.

Her extensive list of career highlights includes: Winifred Banks in Mary Poppins (Michael Cassel Group); Alison Bechdel in the Australian premiere of Fun Home (STC/MTC); Mrs Bucket in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory(Crossroads Live); Catherine in Pippin (Crossroads Live); Cynthia Weil in Beautiful: The Carole King Musical (Michael Cassel Group); Miss Honey in Matilda the Musical (Louise Withers/RSC London); Lillian Holliday in Happy End(Victorian Opera); Heather Chandler in the Australian premiere of Heathers (Showwork); Patty in Ladies in Black(QTC/MTC); Rizzo in Grease (GFO); Cinderella in Into The Woods (Victorian Opera); Lara in the world premiere of Doctor Zhivago (GFO); Polly Peachum in The Threepenny Opera (Victorian Opera/Malthouse/STC); Janet in The Rocky Horror Show (TML Enterprises); Emma in Jekyll and Hyde (TML Enterprises); and Anne Egerman in A Little Night Music (Opera Australia).

On screen, Lucy’s credits include The Eternity Man for Channel 4 UK/ABC, the short film Identical, and numerous television appearances including The State of Origin (National Anthem), The Lord Mayor’s Christmas Carols (Channel 9), The Morning Show (Channel 7), and Today Extra (Channel 9). She has performed with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and Melbourne Philharmonic Orchestra in a range of high-profile concerts.

Lucy’s acclaimed one-woman show Irving Berlin: Songs in the Key of Black toured Australia to rave reviews, with performances at the Adelaide Cabaret Festival, the Spiegeltent, Noosa Festival, His Majesty’s Theatre Perth, and Claire’s Kitchen. The album, featuring arrangements and musical direction by Daniel Edmonds, is available on all major platforms.

Renowned for her artistry, depth, and vocal brilliance, Lucy has received multiple prestigious nominations throughout her career, including Helpmann Award nominations for Matilda the Musical, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Grease, and Doctor Zhivago, as well as Green Room Award nominations for Fun Home, Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, and Into the Woods. She is also a proud recipient of the GLUGS Award for Best Actress in a Musical for Noel & Gertie, reflecting her consistent excellence and impact on Australian theatre.
